About Mapper II

The following outlines the steps necessary to successfully upload files using Mapper II. More detailed information regarding the processing of steps 3, 4 and 5 can be found in the Using Mapper documentation.

  1. Data from Client
The first step in the process flow is to obtain the data from the client ready to be validated and uploaded, which involves the following steps:
    1. Identify the window Activity ID's that are required to be imported. The window Activity Number Reference Imports can be used to determined the file layout required.
    2. Extract the required .csv import file layouts.
    3. Forward these file layouts to the customer together with a copy of the .csv File Format Rules and Guidelines requesting that the data to be imported is loaded into a correctly formatted .csv file. Alternatively work with the client to assist in building the required files.

  1. Review and Update the csv file
Once the files have been built they should be checked and reviewed to identify any obvious formatting issues prior to running the Mapper Validation and/or Update process.

  1. Validate
Where it is required to run the Mapper Import process to Validate Only, this function will process .csv file that is to be imported and will perform a validation test only. If any validation errors are detected an errors.csv file will be processed for only those import records that have a validation error.

The system will generate an error file with a unique file name which can be renamed and re-imported once the errors have been corrected in the error file generated.

Once there are no further validation errors the actual Update Batch Maintenance process can be initiated.
    • This step is optional as it is the first part of the Update Batch Maintenance.

  1. Update Batch Maintenance
The update batch maintenance function is activated when the Perform Update option is selected. This process runs the same process as the Validate Only but will also perform the Batch Update which will update the database with the data from the Mapper Import File.

  1. DB Update
Any records from the import file that failed the validation step processed through the Update Batch Maintenance will be rejected and stored in a separate errors.csv file. The file can then be corrected and re-imported.

All records that passed the validation test through the Update Batch Maintenance will be added, updated or deleted on the Database.
